BASF awarded scholarships totaling $30,000 to three area students. The scholarships cover tuition and fees at Alabama Southern Community College (ASCC). In addition, the students have been offered positions as summer interns at the BASF site in McIntosh, Alabama.

Grady Busby, a sophomore at  ASCC and a graduate of Fruitdale High School; Brandon Threadgill, a graduate of Washington County High School; and Zane Warr, a graduate of Millry High School, who will be ASCC freshmen in the fall were each awarded scholarships valued at approximately $10,000 each towards their studies in Chemical Process Technology.

“BASF is committed to supporting the high technology workforce of the future,” said George Vann, Vice President of BASF’s McIntosh site. “It is important to us that local students have opportunities to prepare themselves to be leaders in our industry.”

BASF’s McIntosh site offers two-year scholarships annually for students participating in the Chemical Process Technology Program at Alabama Southern Community College in Thomasville, Alabama. The program prepares students for jobs in the chemical industry. The students receive scholarships based on academic accomplishment, testing, and an interview. The BASF scholarships cover each student’s tuition and fees for up to four semesters at ASCC.

“Each scholarship recipient is offered a summer internship at our facility,” said Lyna’ Schell, Human Resources Business Partner of the BASF site. “This allows the students to connect what they’ve learned in the classroom with real industry applications.”

Threadgill and Warr were recognized at awards ceremonies held at their respective schools.
